Safety Professional Mentoring

Within small and medium sized organizations, the person responsible for managing the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program may have substantial work experience and be keen to apply their experience for the improvement of OHS at the workplace; however, they often have minimal or no OHS education.  In addition, they may wear many hats such as managing other aspects of risk management, quality control and/or human resources.

How HSC can help...

Safety Professional Mentoring supports and enables an Organization's employee who has minimal formal experience in occupational health and safety to develop their skills, strategies and capability so that they can more effectively manage the Organization's Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

HSC services include, but are not limited to and can be tailored to each Organization's needs:

  • Site visits: Provide tailored safety advice based on site visits.

  • Documentation review: Provide reviews and feedback on draft and finalized documentation.

  • Action Planning: With guidance, the Organization's employee will develop an action plan identifying safety issues, corrective actions, and S.M.A.R.T goals toward implementing controls.

  • Success Monitoring: The status of the action plan will be reviewed at defined intervals with an emphasis on identifying and overcoming barriers.
